Storm

A powerful storm front blew through here an hour ago. Lightning was popping all over. D.H. called us to ask about unplugging things just about the time it started raining. Five minutes later, all heck broke loose. The wind was tremenous. The thunder was continuous. The bangs were coming more frequently than a Disney fireworks display. My garage flooded. It took 45 minutes with the wetvac to get the inch of water up. Fortunately, I am prepared since this has happened a couple of times before over the past 16 years, so I keep everything up off the floor that can't tolerate standing in an inch of water. Mom's garage got some water in it, too, but not as much. Before the storm hit, I did manage to get the front lawn mowed. Tomorrow a university van is picking me up at 6:45 to go to Richmond for the Virginia Society of CPA's Educator Symposium. There are eight of us going, so it will be fun. Imagine the comedy that can be generated by eight accounting professors in a single van! Seinfeld, eat your heart out! And good ol' Niles Fraser has nothing on us! I just checked the weather radar, and there's a tornado over the mountain near Culpeper in the cell that passed through here an hour ago. And there's another supercell coming about 2 hours away. Squall line city. At least the temperature is nice and cool behind the storm. And its as quiet as cotton outside now that the rain has stopped: everything is still.

I bet there are some computers hit by lightning. Wonder how many calls we get on this one.
