It's always a shame when a really good person passes away. Especially when you considered him a good friend. A kind, gentle, upstanding soul, he fell out of the canoe while fishing with his adult son ... possibly a heart attack. He had lived a long and hearty life, and as Garrison Keillor says, the death of an old man is never a tragedy; but he will be greatly mourned by those of us who knew and admired him.

Who was this?
Definitely an amazing guy. He shook my hand all the time and thanked me for conducting the music, telling me what a great person I was. I also remember going with him to walk his dogs at one of those parties he held at his beautiful house on the hill. Sad day!
Who died? I love how you wrote about him.
Wilson Dale Cauley, a kind and gentle white-haired fellow who was first counselor in our branch presidency under David Wright. Bro. Cauley was fishing with his grown son in a canoe on the Maury River, when they hit a rock, and dumped over. Being in the ice-cold water caused him to have a heart attack. He was 71.
I agree. I was talking with his Son-in-Law, and he was saying how the family was sharing the little things that some of the younger kids did not know about him. It's a shame that we don't talk about those little things that we love about people until they are gone. Hearing about what Stuart said about his dad, made me sad, because I had no idea how dedicated he was to his family and faith. I made me admire him even more and appreciate what sacrifices my own dad has made for me.
I am sorry, David.
What was a terrific day for a memory turned into a day of pain.
Sad.
I am glad you have him as a friend, though. Friends are treasures.
